Who I Am
I’m Saman Udayanga Wijesinghe, a Linux Server Administrator and web application developer with a deep-rooted passion for all things open source. As a long-time Linux user, I’m a firm believer in the philosophy of free as in freedom — the idea that great software should be transparent, collaborative, and accessible to everyone.
“Earned daily, not given.”
What I Do
I spend my time administering servers, building for the web, and exploring the ever-evolving landscape of open source software and technology. My work sits at the intersection of reliable infrastructure and thoughtful application development — keeping systems running smoothly while crafting tools that make a real difference.
- Linux Server Administration — managing and hardening production Linux environments
- Web Application Development — building practical, open-standards web applications
- Open Source — contributing to and advocating for free software and open communities
- Writing & Knowledge Sharing — documenting discoveries and sharing insights across tech topics
My Philosophy
Privacy matters. Community matters. And great software should be accessible to everyone.
I believe in building things in the open — where code can be inspected, improved, and shared freely. The open source movement isn’t just a development model; it’s a commitment to a better, more equitable digital world.
Reading & Writing
When I’m not busy managing servers or writing code, I love to read and write about a wide range of topics — from exploring new programming languages to diving into the latest trends in web development. I’m always eager to expand my knowledge and share what I learn along the way.
I write on Medium about Linux, web development, open source tools, and the technology topics I find most compelling.
